News of the week: Sergei chose to be baptized.

See past the ice… a young man is choosing to live a new life where Jesus rules! Wow!

It was so refreshing to have someone accept Jesus as Saviour and not shirk from following the simple command, but rather “strongly desire” to go ahead and declare that Jesus is his Lord!  Sergei is a quiet sort of guy who is living in a dorm building full of blokes who aren’t real keen on being thought of as religious.  It isn’t going to be a “walk in the park” living there.  But… it will make a big difference if several more of these young guys follow him in his decision.  Lord?

We’ve had a good week.

I went out to Baleko Shuchenko with a couple of the young guys from the church and visited the folk out there Friday night.  It was so good to see Andrei, in particular, going on with the Lord.

Priscilla’s grandpa was buried amidst sorrow AND gratitude.  God has blessed and been glorified by his life.  Priscilla’s parents went over to Ohio for the funeral and return today to spend a day or two with us before travelling home to Rovno (about seven hours away by public transport).  Pris has just gone to the airport now to pick them up.

We had several people over during the week and enjoyed spending time with them around a meal.  Sergei and Lena are a young couple getting married soon and we had a night of marriage counseling with them.  Pris and I did not much more than translate while Neil and Noline led the discussion.  Two months to the wedding…

We found an orthodontist in a town not far from us who will take on the two older girls and try to fix the problems that they have with their jaws.  We are delighted, actually, to have found this place.  We save over 60% by going there rather than to Kiev… and it’s closer!!!

Of all nights to choose, the guys suggested Tuesday night as student outreach night!  We start weekly from the first week in April.  May there be fruit!

Hockey…  I am slowly coming to the conclusion that I was born stupid.  Saturday morning, about 10 of us played hockey in the local gym.  I’m still suffering.  How does one take it easy while playing a competitive sport???
