Life is enjoyable

A good week…

Pavers, Rap, Sermons, Concerts, Guests, Wellness…

IMG_0978[2]Good on Igor.  He singlehandedly organized Slavko to come and rap at the three technical colleges and at School #1.  Slavko sang about drink, drugs, smoking as well as friendship, love, Jesus and wise-living.  He connected with the students as well as with the teachers (their reaction was incredibly positive) and was not only a hit, but hopefully built the foundation a little bit stronger in the lives of the students to desire goodness for their lives… God inclusive.  I think about 400 students heard the message as well as about 80 primary school students.  We’ve come to the conclusion that to reach these kids with the gospel, we have to see them more often than just once a month.

We’ve started up Friday nights again after a couple of years break.  So far, we’ve had a blast together.  About 20 college students have come out – none of whom are Christians.  We have driven to the dorms to collect students and each week, filled up the van.  Games, coffee and a devotional are the go.  Postscript:  Just before I post this and then go off to bed after another Friday night, I’ll record our record – about 30 guys and two girls!  :)

We have started digging the foundations on the new project I’ll be working on with the students.  Seven guys have come out so far to work on clearing and digging – it’s going fine.  I enjoy the camaraderie that results from working on a project with young men.

Igor, Kolya and I are finishing off the laying of pavers… hopefully today.  Igor provides a constant stream of rap music and sermons for us to listen to.  I like it… until the 20th time of hearing the same song or the third time of hearing the same sermon.

Guests?  Well… we are always having guests.  Pris feels a bit worn out from the mix of guests, school and flu during the last couple of weeks.  She keeps on doing a super job though.  The ladies have a retreat coming up soon at which she will speak a couple of times.  I’m not sure if she is actually looking forward to it, but she’s enjoying preparing very much.

Angie seems to have had some sort of reaction to… something.  She came out in seeping welts on the inside of her forearm last week that itched like the billy-o.  We have cut out wheat, eggs and milk again and are after trying a few different creams, have settled on Desitin (a zinc cream) as the one that seems to be controlling the seeping the best.  She has been a champ through it all, and I hope we’ve seen the worst of it.  She and Elle are sleeping in a “cubby” they made outside tonight.

The kids are all doing fairly intensive Ukrainian studies at the moment.  By and large, they are enjoying Alla’s lessons and seeing the progress they are making.  Alla has been great.  She isn’t a teacher, but seems to be teaching real well.  Thanks, Lord.

The end of another week…
