I love the Dnepr

Both Friday morning and Sunday night went well.  Friday, lots of second-hand clothes were given away by the group who set up and ran the “give-away” at the Lighthouse Café.  I just dropped in for a minute in the morning, but felt like the place was abuzz!  The café is still not open for business, but there are high hopes that this may change during this summer.  Paperwork is something you can’t help but despise in Ukraine.

Sveta came down from Kiev and sang for us at the Sunday gathering.  She has a totally incredible voice!  Beautiful!  We only had 10 or so students attend what was planned as an event for non-Christians, but I was so glad to see these guys come.  They have heard the gospel several times and I can see when I’ve shared that five or six are really mulling over the message.  They go back to their homes in a couple of weeks, but about half of them will return at the end of summer.

Tonight was the last Bible study I do before leaving for America for Jono’s wedding.  I enjoy teaching.  I enjoy preparing and learning.  I enjoy having the Message affect our hearts and minds.  But at the same time, after everyone went home tonight, I felt like I’d completed a task and was looking forward to the break.

Jesse and I fly out next Tuesday and will visit friends and relatives on the way the the wedding.  I’m not expecting any part of the trip to be a trial, but seeing old friends and rellies will be great.  Oh!  Jesse will get his drivers license and begin putting in some time behind the wheel when we get back.

I must mention the trip yesterday afternoon…  Pris and I went out to the island with all the necessary equipment to spend a night there.  The solitude was delicious!  We didn’t see a soul on the island we camped on and only a few boats went past.  Sitting up on the sandy hill overlooking the river is one of my favourite spots.  The noises and colours and variety make me feel stinking rich.  I guess if we choose to look from the right perspective, we can always feel like God is blessing us.
