Dan and Pris Gollan

I am sitting in Bruce and Deb’s lounge-room with about 20 other people, and if I’m right, we are all at various stages of becoming uncomfortably hot.  There are eight students here from the tech-college enjoying their first experience with a “kinect”… if that is what it is called.  We just watched a message about the size of the earth in relation to the sun and a few other stars and marveled that God would think about us.  All but one of the students don’t yet know Jesus personally, so it was a great subject… which Bruce followed up with a challenge to get to know Him personally.

The camp last week was tops.  32 guys went away to a camp up near Chernobyl.  I felt like God blessed a lot.  We are writing a newsletter which we’ll post out if we can get our comp and printer fixed after the power surge of last Friday.  Actually, we’ll post it out even if we don’t get them fixed, but it will be later rather than sooner.  :)

Here’s a thought which has kept cropping up in my mind the last few days.  If Jesus was to appear in the flesh before a group of us, what would be the reaction of different people and what would be my reaction?  I thought about it as I read the story of Bartimaeus this morning and then again as we began to sing praises and worship God.  You got time to think about this?  If Jesus were to appear in the flesh when you are out tomorrow, what would be your reaction?

OK… night over.  Everyone is going home.

I am “wifeless”.  On my way to visit the dentist yesterday, I found myself wondering how I would “cope” if Priscilla were out of my life permanently and not just for one week.  What a difference that would make!  I thought of several things that would have to change for me to continue to be decently useful in God’s Kingdom.  And I realized that in spite of the DEVASTATION the loss would cause in my heart, life would go on and I could continue to serve the Lord.  I also realized that because of Pris and the kids, my life has rhythm that to a large extent beats according to the tune of their lives.  “Wifeless,” the rhythm I have now would be so hard to keep!  I’m not often given to such introspection.  I know that I sure do love and appreciate the wife God has given me though!

Dentist…  I visited Vanya the dentist twice this week.  He looks about 17, but must be older.   Normally, I would prefer being alone during my dentist visit so the posting of this picture is something of an enigma to me.  With no exaggeration, I expect to need to visit another 10-12 times.  Ukrainian dentists seem to like bringing a patient in several times for root canal work.  I sigh…

The week has somehow flown by. 

There have been a number of interesting moments in it. 

Highlights:

Teaching Elle to read.  Pris taught four days.  During a Kiev day for Pris, I taught the letter “G”. 

Meeting with Sergei and Lena again.  It was just nice being with them as well as a privilege to communicate how God has blessed our marriage as we have followed His principles.
